What I Can Help With

Areas of Interest

  • Pregnancy is a time of huge adjustment that spans all areas of life including social, physical, relationships & psychological. Matrescences is a natural ,yet challenging, transition period into childhood which is unfortunately often not acknowledged. As such, it is a partiuclarly vulnerable time of life for woman and it’s absolutely no surprise that psycholgoical distress can show up in different ways. I work with various difficulties in the perinanatal period including:

    • antenatal anxiety

    • post natal depression

    • perinatal OCD

    • birth trauma

    • fertility difficulties

    • miscarriage

    • baby loss

    • relationship difficulties

  • Our understanding of burnout has massively improved over the past decade. We know that burnout is very common and impacts millions of people everyday. The cost of burnout is significant and the roots of burnout can be wide ranging. Burnout can often appear as depression but importantly, it will not respond to treatments for depression. As such, it is essential to work with a therapist experienced in treating burnout. People can become burned out with various aspects of life including:

    • Neurodivergence

    • Managing a long term condition

    • Work-related stress

    • Carrying the mental load in families

    • Caring responsibilities

  • Our brains are set up in such a way meaning that they very easily pick up threats or risk of threats- it’s just how brains work. So, often anxiety is understandable given the context and it is not something you chose to have. There are a range of evidence-based approaches which are effective at turning down the volume on our threat responses. I have extensive experience working with anxiety difficulties including:

    • generalised anxiety

    • obsessive compulsive disorder

    • phobias

    • driving anxiety

    • health anxiety

    • performance anxiety

    • diabetes anxiety

    • sexual anxiety

  • Experiences of trauma either recent or in the distant past can both make current life challenging. It can knock us off course and make it difficult to keep the past in the past. Trauma reactions can disrupt our ability to feel safe and engage in life. Processing trauma often involves working with a professional using various approaches that work with the brain, body and mind. PTSD can develop from a whole range of situations some of which include:

    • road traffic accidents

    • work place accidents

    • traumatic losses

    • traumatic birth / feeding

    • medical situations

    • natural disasters

    • combat zones

    • sexual or physical assault

    • adverse childhood experiences

  • For all of us, life involves many transitions - some are more challenging than others. We might get stuck before, during or after a planned change in our lives. Or it could be a sudden and unexpected change which completely throws us of course, and takes us away from the life we envisioned. We may be become removed from familiarity and our support network, redefining our purpose. I have supported a lot of people who have undergone various adjustments such as:

    • Relocation /Expatriate

    • Grief/Bereavement

    • Retirement

    • Separation

    • Physical Health

  • Sexual health is closely connected to overall well-being. It impacts our relationships with ourself, others and the world around us. I offer a thoughtful and affirming space to explore areas including:

    • sexual anxiety/ avoidance

    • compulsive sexual behaviours

    • sexual desire or arousal difficulties

    • painful experiences

    • trauma-related sexual difficulties
